Share
We've been goat farming for quite some time now and we wanted to share some things that a soon-to-be goat farmer to consider before he decides to raise goats.
LAND AREA
Grazing is a common method in raising goats in Asia, so if you are keen on raising goats, you really need acres of land. Based on our calculation, you need 150 square meters of land to graze 1 goat. So, a hectare of land could get you 60 goats. It would seem that this makes goat raising too demanding for land area if the whole idea is just grazing in open area.
There is a better way to maximize land use and that is thru planting forage. We will discuss forage planting in a future vlog.
MARKET
Starting a goat farm needs a wee bit of consideration whether to raise goat for milk or goat for meat. So, market dictates whether you for meat or milk. Look out for market trends, try to ask around for existing market. does the local market sell goats.
If deciding for milk, how much milk will you be producing, Is there demand for milk?
Your location dictates what you can sell.
